Dramatica
The origins of Dramatica date back to 1989, when the duo of guitarist
Diego Ramirez and bassist Dennis Murcia played together in a band called
Decadence.
The band was never able to secure a record deal and folded in 1993.
Twenty years later, the duo decided to start anew, naming their new
project Dramatica and enlisting some major players to help record their
debut album in drummer
Mark Zonder
(
Fates Warning,
Warlord)
and two veteran singers in
Michael Vescera and Mark Boals, both of whom have sung with
Yngwie Malmsteen
among other established acts.
That debut,
Fall Of Tyranny, came out in July 2016, and it certainly
deserves notice, as it's a potent blend of
Fates-styled progressive metal balanced with a heavier 80's style yet
still modern.
Given the musicians on board, it's no surprise that the performances
are stellar all around.
A one-off project, or the start of a career?
Too soon to tell.
