Visigoth

Another metal upstart snapped up by Metal Blade Records, Salt Lake City quintet Visigoth delivers with 2015's The Revenant King, full of traditional, anthemic, slightly Euro-inspired power metal. There's a bit of Manowar bombast, traces of Manilla Road (including a cover of that band's "Necropolis"), along with any number of bands from the past that continue to keep the metal flag waving. Visigoth is not terribly unique, but they really know what they're doing, they execute in fine form, and thus don't come off as a tired rehash. For a modern take on classic metal, one can't do much better.
