Underoath
Early on in their career, this Floridian band embodied the definition of
"Christian metalcore", as heard on works such as 2002's
The Changing Of Times .
But over the course of their career, they have strayed from both terms.
They initially broke up in 2013, by which time they were not entirely
Christian, and upon their reformation and new album (2018's
Erase Me )
they had completely disavowed their previous public Christian stance.
And musically, they have drifted from ardent metalcore to incorportaing
alternative and post-metal influences.
Yet they have persevered through it all, still commanding a loyal following
in the metalcore scene.
