Thrust
Hailing from Chicago, Thrust's
first recorded appearance is a rare live split LP with another
Chicago band in Lazer House, under the title
Rock For Poland.
But their real break came with an appearance on
Metal Massacre 4,
which brought about their proper debut album,
Fist Held High,
featuring the then-ubiquitous energetic Priest/Maiden style that was
prevalent in the mid-eighties.
The album fared reasonably well,
but whatever momentum it got them vanished, as they relocated
to Los Angeles, apparently recorded a second album that wasn't released,
and then broke up in the late eighties.
Most of the guys ended up returning to Chicago, but guitarist
Ron Cooke remained, and years later,
with a new lineup in place, put out
put out
Invitation To Insanity in 2002 to very little fanfare.
Another long period out of the public eye ensued, until 2015,
when
Metal Blade
re-released
Fist Held High as part of an anniversary celebration,
packaging it with that long lost second album,
Reincarnation.
Since then, the band appears to have stabilized, with an album
released in 2018 and another due in late 2020.
