Skullview

Skullview was one of several recent bands keeping alive the spirit that is classic heavy metal. Very much an 80's-sounding band, Skullview brought to mind bands such as Jag Panzer, Iced Earth, and Iron Maiden. In "Earthquake" Quimby Lewis the band had the perfect frontman for this sort of music, as he could wail with the best of them but also had plenty of power behind his vocals. Like other bands reliving the 80's, Skullview wasn't trying to change the world, and as such they never scored high points for originality. But the band was tight, the songs well-written and well executed, and for that the band gets a thumbs-up for fans of classic true metal. Dormant for several years after a trio of albums between 1998 and 2001, they rebounded in 2010 with a new album, but broke up some time afterward.
