Scepter

Scepter was one of two bands that emerged after the demise of the Chicago death metal band The Dead Youth, the other being Usurper. Like Usurper, early Celtic Frost is the primary soundalike here, so what we have is dark, dirty death-ish mid-paced thrash, with John Karnes' vocals occasionally a spot-on Tom Warrior impression, though he is more prone to both death-ish growls as well as some screams. The band dated back as far as 1991, released two albums and an EP between 1996 and 2003, and broke up in 2006.
