The Sins Of Thy Beloved

The Sins Of Thy Beloved are in the atmospheric/gothic metal arena, most similar to bands such as Tristania, Trail Of Tears, or mid-period Theatre Of Tragedy, featuring melancholic, slow-to-midpaced songs with faultless female soprano vocals plus the occasional male death growl. A guest violinist is present, and in fact the violins are more prominent here than other similar bands -- they are well integrated into the songs and lend a classical air to the music. After two albums, they haven't quite distanced themselves from the aforementioned bands, but they are nonetheless a quality band.

Since the release of Perpetual Desolation in 2000 three of the seven members left the band, mostly due not to musical or personal differences but rather a dislike of touring. The band had been rumored as disbanded for some time, though as of late 2005 two new members were onboard and a new album was supposedly in the works.
