Runic

Further proof that metal and its genres have no geographic boundaries, we have a Viking metal band from ... Spain? True enough, Runic is that band, formed in 2001, releasing an MCD in that year, and then going through a major lineup overhaul in the succeeding years before releasing their debut full-length album, Liar Flags, in 2006. Liar Flags sounds every bit like a Scandinavian metal album, borrowing from both Viking and melodic death influences so that the result sounds like neither a true Viking band nor a typical Swedish melodeath band either. It appears the band is no more.
