Profanatica

Profanatica was formed in 1990 by three guys who all played in early lineups of Incantation, deciding to go their own way to play black metal as opposed to the death metal direction that Incantation took. The trio lasted a couple of years, recording an EP and several demos before breaking up, with one of the three (Paul Ledney) eventually hiring new members for a rejuvenated Profanatica in 2001. Now down to a duo as heard on 2016's The Curling Flame Of Blasphemy, the style is a sort of black/death hybrid, with distant vocals in the black metal vein while the riffs borrow from both genres.
