Mordred

Initially part of the San Francisco thrash fraternity of the eighties, Mordred starting making a name for themselves by incorporating funk influences to their sound, then quite a novelty. Most of the debut Fool's Game sticks to thrash, but the 1991 follow-up In This Life is where the new influences (aided by the rap-style turntables of Aaron Vaughn) really come to the fore, giving the album and band a very distinctive style. Over the next several years internal friction plagued the band, and by 1995 they were done. They reunited in late 2001 to play some shows and pursue a renewed career, and at one point even announced a name and style change, which never materialized. This second version of the band lasted until around 2007, and then went dark until 2013, when the band once again came back to life. With the exception of a single in 2015, the band hasn't recorded since 1994, but June 2020 sees the band with a new EP, Volition.
