The Legion

Founded by a trio of players including current Marduk drummer Emil Dragotinovic, The Legion came to form in 1999 and have released two full-length albums, the most recent being Revocation. This is prime Swedish black metal, fast, furious, and unrelenting, less the old-school style of Marduk but perhaps more in line with fellow Swedes such as Naglfar or Dark Funeral. The production and musicianship values are top-notch (Dragotinovic in particular is all over the place, an exhaustive performance), though if there's a criticism, it's that the individual songs don't stand out as much as desired, and though the material is well executed, it's not particularly distinctive. These guys won't convert non-black-metallists to the cause, but fans of the genre should be satisfied with Revocation.
