With the release of 2021's Wallflowers,
Jinjer continue their steady ascent
toward worldwide notoriety and by this time they
are almost assuredly Ukraine's most well-known metal export.
Their style mixes plenty of dissonant, jumpy tech-death and a bit
of djent
with a solid
groove and a touch of more traditional melodeath sensibilities, highlighted
by the vocals of Tatiana Shmailyuk, who's equally comfortable
with soaring,
graceful cleans and unholy shrieks and howls.
Her ability to switch from one extreme to the
other at the drop of a hat is quite impressive, the dual styles lending
much-welcomed diversity to the overall sound.
Can they continue to gain popularity and still retain their core sound?
Time will tell.
Recent album: Duél,
released on February 7, 2025.
