Internal Void
Internal Void was one of several DC-area bands signed to the
Hellhound
label in the early nineties,
the area being a haven for such bands at the time.
Similar to then-labelmates
Count Raven,
the style on 1993's
Standing On The Sun
was at times a little too much like old
Ozzy-era Sabbath, but they pulled it off well.
By contrast, the long-awaited followup,
Unearthed, found the
band varying their sound significantly, retaining some of the
doom style of the debut but also adding a more psychedelic/70's
groove, somewhat in tune with the then-current stoner rock wave
(though they don't sound like the usual bands there either),
resulting in a pretty unique album.
A third album came out in 2004 and they gradually faded away,
playing their last gig in 2013.
