Hypocrisy

Hypocrisy was formed, initially as just a solo project, by guitarist Peter Tägtgren around 1990. As he was largely influenced by the then-exploding Floridian death metal scene Obituary, Morbid Angel, Death, and the like), it comes as no surprise that Hypocrisy's initial style owed more to the aforementioned bands' old-school style, rather than the more melodic bands that would soon come from Sweden, though later releases have shifted slightly toward a more melodic death metal direction. Tägtgren has long been involved in other musical projects and is one of Sweden's most well-respected producers as well.
