Human Fortress
A German band with song titles such as "Defenders Of The Crown"
and "Knights In Shining Armour" must be a power metal band,
and sure enough that's what Human Fortress is, the sextet
coming together in the late nineties originally named TimeZone.
Epic power metal is the order of the day here, with few
surprises but the usual high standards of well-constructed songs and
fine vocals from Jioti Parcharidis, who keeps things in check with a
clear, melodic voice.
It's getting harder and harder for bands like
this to come up with something
new or innovative, and in that respect there's really nothing here
that fans of the genre haven't heard
countless times before
(for example, the chorus of "Mortal's Sinful Wrath" sounds familiar
almost to the point of plagiarism),
but Human Fortress execute quite well indeed and certainly
deserve a recommendation for Euro metal fans.
