Gloryhammer

Founder Christopher Bowes trades in his pirate paraphenalia from his main band (Alestorm) and goes for a sci-fi/fantasy go-around with the aptly named Gloryhammer. This is symphonic power metal through and through, throroughly unoriginal yet ridiculously catchy. Over-the-top lyrics, plenty of swirling keyboards, anthemic choruses, it's all here in abundance. It's almost too much, as if Bowes and crew walk right up to the parody line and dare to step over. Do they? Maybe, maybe not. There really isn't much middle ground with a band like this. If overblown, ridiculous, cheesy, yet impeccably played upbeat symphonic power metal is your thing, then Gloryhammer is just the band for you. Otherwise, this is certainly not a band to win you over.
