Gallhammer

A rather odd band here. Being an all-female trio from Japan (update: now a duo) is unique in itself, but their music is also a bit different, a blend of Hellhammer-ish raw doom, early black metal, and punk. The vocals are often lower gutteral growls, but also feature some rather tuneless clean voices ("Delirium Daydream") and some curious higher-pitched yelps ("Blind My Eyes"). To their credit, their sound is rather interesting and there is a decent amount of variation from song to song. At times it's all a bit messy (not surprising given the influences) -- clearly technical musicianship is not a priority here. A bit strange overall, which is not a bad thing.
