Eternity's End
A glance at the lineup for this band reveals a trio of
well-known names in the German extreme metal scene in
Hannes Grossmann, Christian Münzner, and Linus Klausenitzer.
Both together and apart, they've appeared in countless metal bands
over the years including recent heavy hitters such as
Alkaloid
and
Obscura,
bands with a wide range of styles though usually more in the
technical death side of metal.
Here, though, the guys scratch a more melodic metal itch,
as Eternity's End fits squarely in the speedy, melodic, prog/power
metal mold, a style popularized decades ago yet still popular in Europe.
As such, the band doesn't stretch songwriting boundaries, but the
musicianship (particularly Münzer's impresssive neoclassical guitarwork)
is as top-notch as
one would expect, and relatively unknown vocalist Iuri Sanson,
with his clear high-pitched yet controlled wails,
is perfect here.
As crowded as this genre seems to be, there's clearly room for more,
and who better than seasoned veterans like these guys to provide the goods.
