Dominus
This Danish band's biggest claim to fame is that it's the band
that Michael Poulsen led prior to forming
Volbeat.
The style here is quite different from Volbeat (at least early on),
as 1996's
The First 9 is slightly groove-laden thrashy death metal,
with Poulsen's rough vocals also quite different than what he later
became well known for, while
the later albums apparently did shift a bit in style.
The band lasted about a decade, folding around 2000, with Poulsen
and bassist Franz Gottschalk moving on, taking the band's 3rd
album title (
Vol.Beat) as inspiration for the new band.
