Metallist Chris Black has his hands in several quality bands, and until
recently Dawnbringer was one of them, the group deciding to hang it up
in 2016.
Dawnbringer was the most prolific of his bands, with a string of albums
and EPs released during a decade-long career.
It's quite interesting -- Black's bands don't really sound similar to each
other, but there's a common strain present, especially comparing
Dawnbringer to, say,
High Spirits
and
Aktor,
particularly with the rather unique vocals and songwriting skills.
As heard on the 2012 concept album Into The Lair Of The Sun God,
Dawnbringer offers plenty of Maiden-isms, with some NWOBHM
and traditional metal blending with Black's distinctive, slightly
raspy but still melodic vocals.
This band never really seemed to gain major traction, which is
unfortunate, as the style here would appeal to many metal fans.
