Dismember
Dismember was one of the fathers of Swedish death metal,
arriving on the scene at end of the eighties, along with
compatriots such as
Edge Of Sanity ,
At The Gates , and
Entombed .
But while the other aforementioned bands are gone (or,
in the latter case, no longer in the death metal field),
Dismember continued to proudly wave the banner of prime Swedish
death metal for years and years.
Their albums were uniformly well executed and mostly of
a similar heads-down intense style, with the minor exception
of
Massive Killing Capacity , where they took a slight death-rock
approach, somewhat similar to what Entombed was doing at the
time.
In general, early/mid Entombed is the band that
Dismember most closely resembled, though neither is a clone of the
other.
After 23 years and 10 albums, they finally announced their breakup in
October 2011.
