Defect Designer

Defect Designer is a rather peculiar mob originally hailing from Russia but relocating to Norway later on, with a frequently changing list of members. As heard on their recent 2024 effort Chitin, their style is an odd, jumpy form of death metal with crunchy guitar riffs, faint jazz and grindcore touches, and full of twists and turns -- even with short runtimes, the songs frequently bounce from riff to riff sometimes rather haphazardly, the guys seemingly unable to sit still for a moment. Off all the bands connected to these guys via shared members, the one Defect Designer most resembles is Diskord, as the two bands share a similar penchant for jumpy, off-the-wall songwriting. Yet with all the weirdness going on, the basic feel of Chitin is quite cool and engaging, bizarre yet compelling.
