Desdemona
The enigmatic Polish group Desdemona has been around since 1996
and has released four albums between 2000 and 2012.
The band blends gothic metal and electronica, with the former dwindling
on later albums while the latter increases with each release.
Thus, the debut,
Stagnacja,
is more in the traditional gothic camp with little techno,
while the later release
Endorphins is almost entirely
a techno/electronica album with very little hints of gothic, or even metal
at all.
In the middle there's
_s.u.p.e.r.n.o.v.a., where the two styles intermix to good effect,
highlighted by fine female midrange vocals by
Agata Pawlowicz, who at times sounds a bit like
Madder Mortem's
Agnete Kirkevaag.
A fair comparison band to Desdemona, both in terms of
general sound and their career arc, is another Polish band,
Artrosis.
