Coprofago
One of a handful of Chilean bands making some worldwide headway,
Coprofago was formed in 1993, with two independent releases
released some years later, the latter (
Genesis) of which was
picked up by Sekhmet Records in 2002.
Genesis is a technical death metal rollercoaster,
clearly influenced by
the likes of
Cynic,
with twists and turns and jazzy interludes, with vocals alternating
between hardcore and a more standard death growl.
There's also a bit of
Meshuggah
on hand, as evidenced by some of the staccato riffing patterns.
The songs are a bit disjointed at times, sounding more like unrelated
segments randomly spliced together, but there is clearly talent here,
that hopefully can be harnessed in their next release.
