Coprofago

One of a handful of Chilean bands making some worldwide headway, Coprofago was formed in 1993, with two independent releases released some years later, the latter (Genesis) of which was picked up by Sekhmet Records in 2002. Genesis is a technical death metal rollercoaster, clearly influenced by the likes of Cynic, with twists and turns and jazzy interludes, with vocals alternating between hardcore and a more standard death growl. There's also a bit of Meshuggah on hand, as evidenced by some of the staccato riffing patterns. The songs are a bit disjointed at times, sounding more like unrelated segments randomly spliced together, but there is clearly talent here, that hopefully can be harnessed in their next release.
