Cerberus

The so-called Gothenburg style of melodic death metal is nothing new these days, but the influences of that scene still run rampant in 2007, as there are no shortage of bands the world over that play this style. Here we have Cerberus (certainly not the first band with that name), from Los Angeles of all places, and while their formative years were spent playing more traditional thrash, 2007's Dispute The Truth sees these guys really embracing the melodeath style, though a healthy thrash influence remains. This is pretty unrelenting, vicious stuff, with a tight, stellar production and plenty of crunchy riffs and some tasteful solos. It would be a stretch to call this original, but based on this album, Cerberus deserves to be more than just another faceless melodeth band.
