Celestial Season

Celestial Season is one of a handful of metal bands that have operated in two distinct subgenres over the course of their career. They arose in the early nineties as a standout doomdeath band, culminating with the excellent Solar Lovers album in 1995. Yet two years later, the band released with Orange, and just like that they'd transformed into a full-on Kyuss-influenced stoner metal band, right down to Cyril Crutz's striking vocal resemblance to John Garcia. To their credit, they were adept in this new style as they were in the doomdeath arena. They continued down this path for a couple more years, finally announcing their breakup in February of 2002, citing their creativity as "fulfilled". Ten years later the band, featuring several of the original/core members, reformed the band, and a new album was finally released in 2020. That album (The Secret Teachings) shows the band returning to their doomdeath roots.
