Brimstone Coven

Brimstone Coven is a psychedelic/doom/occult band hailing from West Virginia, initially formed in 2011. The discography thus far is a bit confusing, as the band independently released the self-titled debut EP, then followed that up with a full-length entitled just II, and when Metal Blade gobbled them up they put out a full-length entitled Brimstone Coven which is actually a re-release of II with the debut EP tracks as bonuses. Anyway, it seems the band is midway between a proper doom metal band and an occult rock act -- they aren't nearly as heavy as prototypical doom, but they're a bit more metallic than the current wave of occult groups. Whether or not the current occult rock bandwagon has any traction or not, there's a market for bands like Brimstone Coven, and with label backing they hopefully can build on their early momentum.
