Black Curse
Black Curse features members from several notable Denver metal bands
(
Khemmis,
Blood Incantation,
Primitive Man,
among others), first forming around 2015 but taking a few years
before debuting (no doubt their primary band commitments took precedence).
That debut, 2020's
Endless Wound,
is a pummelling, dense, cavernous brand of
death metal, deserving praise not only for being
a great record, but also for really not sounding like any of
the aforementioned bands.
Death metal has evolved and branched
into several directions during the 2000's,
ranging from 90's retro worship to twisted technical noise, but Black Curse
has somehow come up with a sound that is neither extreme, and really not
overly complex, but one that encompasses the best of what in-your-face
death metal can and should be.
