Bison B.C.

The Vancouver band known as Bison B.C. (the B.C. suffix is apparently a preemptive strike against any other band named just Bison) debuted in 2007 with Earthbound before being snapped up by Metal Blade for their sophomore effort, Quiet Earth. Mastodon seems to be the popular reference point here -- Bison doesn't clone, but the style isn't far off, with crushingly heavy riffs, a slight stoner vibe at times, and harsh but not overbearing vocals. The band have a nice sense of pace, varying speeds enough to keep things interesting. Could be a band to keep an eye on.
