Beyond Twilight
Led by keyboardist Finn Zierler,
this Danish band started as Twilight in 1994, releasing
two albums before deciding that a name modification
was needed, thereafter going by Beyond Twilight.
Members have come and gone through the years,
including a few notables like restless vocalist
Jørn Lande
(
Ark,
Masterplan,
and others)
and
Invocator
guitarist/leader Jacob Hansen.
As evidenced on 2005's
Section X, Beyond Twilight
belong in the top tier of
European progressive metal bands, playing that classic,
familiar style pioneered by the greats like
Dream Theater,
though this band is far from a DT clone, as they are
less technical and yet arguably a shade more
adventurous, and there's a dark, symphonic tone
here that gives them a harder edge.
Zierler is a star, no question about, but though he
he shines here, he doesn't overshadow the other players,
all of whom also excel.
The band has been quiet since the ambitious
For The Love Of Art And The Making in 2006 and are probably done.
