Battlecross
Battlecross hails from Michigan and formed in 2003, putting out a
self-released debut in 2010 before
Metal Blade
signed them to their ever-expanding roster, and three more albums
have been released since then.
As heard on 2013's
War Of Will,
Battlecross play frenzied, tight melodic thrash, highlighting
stellar musicianship particularly with the guitar leads and drumming.
The vocals are relentless and pretty harsh -- they alternate
between a raspy shriek and a lower-pitched roar
(giving the band a slight metalcore flavor), but both can wear
on the listener after a while, though to be fair such vocals are
commonplace among modern thrash bands.
