Agathodaimon

Agathodaimon is one of a relatively small number of German black metal bands, that style of course much more popular in the Scandinavian countries. They formed in 1995 and have released four full-length albums, the most recent being Serpent's Embrace in 2004. Their style is indeed rooted in black metal, but a much more melodic variant than the Norwegian old-school variety, and with traces of melodic death metal mixed in, it might be better to label their style as a death/black hybrid. Despite lineup changes and the like, the band has survived a decade in the business and while they may not reach the upper echelons of popularity, they have done well for themselves.
