5ive

This band has nothing to do with the British pop band also known as 5ive, but instead is an intense drone project. On the surface this is pretty simplistic stuff, just a sludgy guitar and drums, nothing more (though a guest vocalist did appear on one release), often lacking in real song structure, and with songs often on the lengthy side, they might come across as monotonous. To some, maybe, as this is not singalong anthemic stuff, and it's not crazy technical metal, but what it is is pretty cool noise that works well in a background sense, or when the listener just wants to lean back and let the groove take over.

One or more of their releases technically list the band name as 5ive's Continuum Research Project, and as such the band is sometimes noted with that as their (new) official name, but apparently that is inaccurate.
