Y&T
Y&T are one of those bands that, judging their career as a whole,
may or may not be viewed as a "real metal" band.
The latter half or so of their career was spent more as a poppy
hard rock band (normally not included on the BNR pages), but their
early work (particularly the quite worthwhile
Earthshaker) showed
some promising American hard rock/metal tendencies.
Officially known as Yesterday & Today on their first two albums
before deciding to shorten their name, the band achieved some
notable airplay and MTV coverage in the mid-eighties before first
disbanding in 1991 (the live album of that year was their farewell
concert), returning in 1995 for a time before once again calling it
quits after
Endangered Species, and have since reunited once
again for touring purposes and a possible new album.
Guitarist Dave Meniketti also has had a thriving solo career for
several years now.
