White Skull  


White Skull has been churning out power metal albums in their homeland of Italy for a number of years, with a generic style influenced by bands such as Blind Guardian and Grave Digger (the latter due to vocalist Chris Boltendahl's guest appearances here, as well as both WS vocalists bearing some vocal resemblance to him). Their recent XIII Skulls album, though competent, is flawed: the production lacks clarity, vocalist Gus Gabarro sounds strained, and the band is entirely too fond of the singalong choruses that so many Euro true metal bands employ, rendering each song to sound like all of the others (especially frustrating when a song, like "Mothman Prophecies", has a strong verse/riff, but a very generic chorus). Dedicated fans of the genre might like these guys, but it's difficult to see how this band can rise to the first division of power metal.
