ThanatoSchizo

ThanatoSchizo was founded in 1998, with the shortened name Thanatos
(no relation to the Dutch
Thanatos),
aiming to try something different in the metal world.
Under that name, a self-financed 1999 EP
Melégnia was put out,
but they opted for the more elaborate name ThanatoSchizo
following a shift of personnel.
Their style is hard to pinpoint, as they clearly have a multitude
of influences incorporated into their sound.
The vocals range from death growls to female stylings to
a fair bit of clean male singing, and at the core the musical style
is a doom/gothic blend, with a good deal of variance in the
songwriting and pace.
The more recent
InsomniousNightLift is clearly the more mature
and developed of their two full-lengths, with
Schizo Level
living up to its name by being a little less focused.
These guys really don't sound like any
single band, but one occasional soundalike
might be
Forgotten Silence,
particularly given their vocal styles and transitioning from hardened
guitars to quieter interludes.
Those into the more esoteric side of doomy gothic metal might well
find something of interest here.
After five full-length albums, they announced their retirement in
September 2011.
