Thulsa Doom
A band with a penchant for odd album titles, Thulsa Doom
is another of a strong contigent of Scandinavian stoner
bands.
The band was formed in 1999 by guitarist Ole Petter Andreassen,
a successful producer in the world of Norwegian rock as well as
the drummer in
Black Debbath,
the rest of the band handpicked and all
adopting humerous names with Doom in them
(best of the lot: Doom Perignon).
Humor is definitely top priority with song titles such as
"Why Do You Keep On (Watching The Porno) After You Came",
"21st Century - Where Can I Get Myself A Fuckable Little Grungette?",
and so forth, but they also rock hard in the true stoner rock
tradition.
In comparing the two albums
Helmet
and
Jars, the former is more in the classic stoner vibe
of early
Kyuss,
while the latter moves a bit into Southern rock territory at times,
though still with a stoner edge.
