The Storyteller  


The Storyteller was formed in 1995, oddly enough as an acoustic outfit, and went through the usual trials and tribulations of style changes and lineup shifts before finally recording their debut album in 2000, and have followed that with two more releases. Their style is typical of the European "true" metal scene, in this case bouncy melodic speed metal mixed with a bit of Manowar-styled aggression. A plus is their vocalist is a bit more mid-ranged than several of his counterparts and thus less prone to the higher-pitched yelps that many in this field attempt. Truth be told (and it's certainly been said many times on this site and others), there is a boatload of European bands doing one variant or another of this style of metal, and The Storyteller really adds nothing new to the mix. At this point they are fine for the style, and another band to add for those into Euro melodic power metal, but they are not yet ahead of the pack.

As of mid-2006 the band was on an extended break.
