Sortilege

Arguably one of the best of the French metal bands of the
mid-80's, Sortilege mixed a strong
Iron Maiden
songwriting style
with clear, quality vocals courtesy of Christian Augustin.
Their overall sound wasn't radically different than other bands
(French or otherwise) of the period, but what they did do, they did
well.
Though the original albums were all sung in French (as were practically
all French metal albums back then),
English-language versions of the two
albums (
Metamorphosis
and
Heroes Tears) were later released
on Steamhammer Records.
More recently,
Axe Killer
Records
have re-released the albums, as
well as a boxed set compilation.
