Scavenger

Scavenger is a young hopeful from Ireland, formed in late 2001
and already have released a self-titled debut.
Youthful and energetic, the band plays a somewhat thrashy 80's
power metal mixed with some NWOBHM rawness, particularly the fuzzy
guitar tone that adds a nice rough character to the songs.
This is one of those bands who don't immediately sound like anyone
else but who are instantly familiar and enjoyable.
The vocalist alternately sounds like Steve Sousa
Exodus
and Dave Mustaine
Megadeth,
or perhaps a cross between the two -- his vocals are at times a bit
one-dimensional but they suit the music well.
There's still some work to do, but for a self-financed debut this
is not bad at all.
Scavenger is a fine upstart band with the potential for a solid
future.
