Sabbat  

No relation to Sabbat (the British pre-Skyclad thrash band), this cult Japanese death metal band has been around seemingly forever (actually since the early 80's), releasing a slew of EPs and albums, mostly self-financed and almost all in very limited quantities (see their web site for a more complete discography than what is provided below). The only album reviewed here ... For Satan And Sacrifice, which consists mostly of raw, primitive, mid-paced death metal, with frequent nods to early Venom, and some mid-eighties style pre-death thrash. As with most Japanese bands, information on them is hard to come by, but apparently they are alive and kicking as of this writing, though longtime guitarist Temis Osmond recently left the group.
