In 2000, Wayne decided to resurrect Reverend, recruiting an entirely new lineup. A four-track EP, A Gathering Of Demons, was later released, again featuring a power metal style with characteristicly fine vocals from Wayne, though the tone here is a bit darker in the past. Wayne also formed another project/group, this one simply entitled Wayne, and that band's album was ironically called Metal Church, a move that has caused much mudslinging between him and his old bandmates.
Reverend was an on-again, off-again venture for several years.
Wayne's last venture was to once again usurp the name of his
former band, touring and promoting his new band as
David Wayne's Metal Church.
With his unfortunate passing in the spring of 2005, Reverend
seemed to be finished, but the rest of the members decided
to carry on in his honor.
Curiously, the current lineup features no one who has recorded with
the band previously.
