Pathogen

Pathogen have been playing live for over a decade, forming
in 1995 in the west coast of Australia, recording two demos
early on and then settling down for a good several years
recording their debut album,
Bloodline.
This is prime melodic death metal, with harsh vocals
(forceful, if one-dimensional) and
fine melodic riffing typical of the genre.
There are good ideas here and in general this is a solid release,
while on the other hand they aren’t going to convert fans that
aren’t into melodic death metal, since, even though they don’t
sound like any other one band specifically, their music is solidly
entrenched in melodic death and rarely, if ever, strays from those
boundaries.
So, a fine debut effort from the band, though they might need to
broaden their horizons next time around.
