Powerwolf

As the story goes, this band was formed by brothers Matthew and Charles
Greywolf, though in reality the duo aren't brothers at all.
That in itself isn't unusual, nor is it unusual for guys to play
together in several bands, as these guys have.
What is interesting is that the three related bands here
(Powerwolf,
Red Aim,
and
Flowing Tears)
have practically nothing in common with each other, and in fact the guys
seem to want to distance themselves from their past, for whatever reasons.
Anyway, Powerwolf came into being around 2003 (during which time both
of the other bands were active), releasing their first album two years
later.
As heard on 2011's
Blood Of The Saints, the style is horror-tinged,
mostly midpaced Euro power metal, featuring a pretty good vocalist in
Attila Dorn, and heavy on the choired vocal choruses.
Lyrically, wolves and blood appear to be the subject matter of choice.
It's all pretty safe, there are few surprises here, yet they execute
well and are a safe bet for the Euro power metal crowd.
