Mortillery

There are certainly no shortage of thrash metal bands these days, though not many with both a female vocalist and a female bassist (for some reason, there are actually very few metal bands of any genre with more than one woman (but not all women)). Anyway, this Canadian quintet has the retro thrash sound down pat (really, with a name like Mortillery, how could they not play thrash?), with a style that is less an early Exodus clone than an amalgamation of classic 80's speed/thrash. Energy and enthusiasm are front and center here, really a song-by-song breakdown or even more than a few sentences here is unnecessary -- this genre has been mined almost to the breaking point over the last several years or so, yet there's no reason why Mortillery shouldn't at least be mentioned in the same breath as the best of the recent retro thrash bands.
