Medieval

Medieval were one of those long-lost odd little bands
with an original sound
that, while quite good, never caught on with the mainstream metal
audience.
In some respects they were a band ahead of its time, as their brand
of sludgy, punky metal had some similarities with the early Seattle
grunge sound that hadn't quite taken hold at that time.
The band's sound and lack of image (the normal short-haired guys
look, popularized to some extent many years later by
Helmet)
made them slight outsiders in the metal world, yet their music
was undeniably metallic and, not only that, quite entertaining.
Though only two releases were put out in the late eighties, the
band has recently reunited and may yet record in the future.
