Internal Void

Internal Void's debut album,
Standing On The Sun,
follows the pattern of several Hellhound bands signed in the early
nineties,
opting for a strong Sabbath-inspired doom style
(the Maryland/DC area being a haven for such bands at the time).
Like
Count Raven,
the style is at times a little too much like old
Ozzy-era Sabbath, but they pull it off well.
By contrast, the long-awaited followup,
Unearthed, finds the
band varying their sound significantly, retaining some of the
doom style of the debut but also adding a more psychedelic/70's
groove, somewhat in tune with the current stoner rock wave
(though they don't sound like the usual bands there either),
resulting in a pretty unique album.
A very good band.
The band recently self-released their third album, Matricide.
