Hawk

A short-lived Los Angeles band from the 80's,
Hawk is notable for a few names
having passed through, in particular drummers Matt Sorum
(later of
Guns'n'Roses)
and Scott Travis,
now in
Judas Priest.
The main personality here was guitarist Doug Marks, who has since
made a name for himself as the guitar instructor featured on the
"Metal Method" instructional videos.
Formed in 1984,
the group was
essentially a solo project featuring Marks and several session
musicians
by the time their only album was released in 1986.
Hawk featured a strong vocal performance from David Fefolt
(somewhat in the Dio mold) and flashy guitarwork from Marks, though
the songs are bit on the pedestrian side, very much rooted in
80's hard rock.
