Gurd

Gurd is the continuation, of sorts, of the thrash band
Poltergeist,
formed in 1994 by two members of that band.
Rather than continuing to play traditional thrash as
Poltergeist did, Gurd opted to retain the aggression of
thrash, mixed with a more modern, groove-ish crunch that
occasionally wanders into nu-metal territory, a la
newer
Machine Head
or, to a lesser extent,
Pantera.
The band had been signed to Century Media for a number of
years for European releases
(doubly odd, since Gurd's style is neither like the typical
CM band nor do they really sound very European at all)
before hooking up with Diehard Music for their most recent
release,
Encounter.
