Extol  


Norway's Extol ranks as one of the leading technical Christian metal bands in the scene today, a title previously held by bands such as Believer. Formed in 1994, their style mixes black metal (more so on their early releases), melodic death, and (mainly) a highly progressive/technical nature, a style that has mutated and matured with each successive release. Peter Espevoll's shouted vocals are sometimes a bit samey, but his aggression fits nicely alongside the energetic riffing of the band. Extremely inventive in their songwriting and playing, Extol is sure to please technical death metal fans, as well as (of course) Christian metal fans.

As of 2007 the band is on an indefinite hiatus -- though not formally broken up, there are no plans for future band activities.
